Are wedding favors expected?

    At some weddings yes…

Wedding favors aren’t absolutely necessary, but they’re a thoughtful way to thank your guests for being a part of your wedding celebration. Traditionally brides and grooms gave out little packets of rice or birdseed to throw at the end of thew wedding. Most places now frown on this, as it creates a big mess, not to mention a slipping hazard (and you don’t want to draw a big crowd of pigeons when you make your getaway.)In some cultures, couples have normally give away pieces of the groom’s cake as a gift. This is a smaller dense fruitcake or chocolate cake. Supposedly, unmarried girls are supposed to sleep with the piece under their pillows to dream about their future husband. But whatever ends up happening with it, we think it makes a cute favor, especially if you package each piece in a cute little box.

Finally, a lot of couples give little momentos of their weddings that guests can save. These include candles, soaps, fans, wine stoppers, etc. One favor trend we really like are silver framed place-card holders that the guests can take home and use as a little picture frame.
